The Chicago Sky enhance their roster ahead of the upcoming WNBA Draft by adding another first-round pick.
The Chicago Sky have officially acquired the No. 11 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft from the Minnesota Lynx, as announced on Sunday evening. In return, Minnesota obtains the Sky’s first-round pick in 2026 and loses the right to swap 2026 first-round picks with Chicago, a right acquired last year.
Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca expressed enthusiasm for the 2025 draft class, stating, “We believe the 2025 draft class is deep, and we’re excited about the flexibility we obtain by acquiring another first-round pick this year. The No. 11 pick represents another route to improve our roster.”
With this trade, the Sky now hold the No. 10, No. 11, No. 16, and No. 22 picks in the draft. Previously, they had the No. 3 pick but traded it to gain two-time All-Star Ariel Atkins from the Washington Mystics.
On the other hand, the Lynx will not have any first-round picks in the upcoming draft but will select at No. 15 and No. 24 in the second round and No. 37 in the third round.
Who could the Chicago Sky add to their roster in Monday’s WNBA Draft?
As the draft approaches, the Sky likely have a target for the No. 11 pick, anticipating that a promising player will still be available late in the first round. The SB Nation’s WNBA Mock Draft currently highlights South Carolina guard Te-Hina Paopao at No. 10, South Carolina forward Sania Feagan at No. 11, and Alabama guard Sarah Ashlee Barker at No. 12. Potential players in that draft range also include West Virginia guard JJ Quinerly, Florida State forward Makayla Timpson, and Kentucky guard Georgia Amoore.
The Sky’s roster already features veteran guards Ariel Atkins, Courtney Vandersloot, Moriah Jefferson, and Rachel Banham, along with young talents Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. Additionally, they have added former Los Angeles Sparks guard Kia Nurse and former Phoenix Mercury forward Rebecca Allen this offseason.
As the WNBA Draft is set for Monday, April 14th, it remains to be seen who the Chicago Sky will ultimately select to enhance their team further.
