Elon Musk Urges Tesla Vandals to Stop Being Psycho Amid Trump Support

"If you read the news, it feels like, you know, armageddon. I can’t walk past the TV without seeing a Tesla on fire. I understand if you don’t want to buy our product, but you don’t have to burn it down. That’s a bit unreasonable, you know. Like, this is psycho," Musk added, while chuckling. "Stop being psycho, OK?"

Elon Musk recently addressed the ongoing vandalism and destruction of Tesla vehicles, emphasizing that those resorting to such extreme actions in response to his support for President Trump and leadership of DOGE need to “stop being psycho.”

This statement was made during an all-hands meeting at Tesla, where Musk has been at the helm since 2008, late Thursday night.

He remarked, “If you read the news, it feels like, you know, armageddon. I can’t walk past the TV without seeing a Tesla on fire,” highlighting the intense scrutiny and backlash faced by the company.

“I understand if you don’t want to buy our product, but you don’t have to burn it down. That’s a bit unreasonable, you know. Like, this is psycho,” Musk added with a chuckle. “Stop being psycho, OK?”

Musk’s comments come on the heels of recent incidents where Tesla vehicles at a Las Vegas store were shot and set ablaze with Molotov cocktails. Similar acts of vandalism have occurred in Colorado, where a woman was charged with setting Tesla cars on fire and writing “Nazi cars” on a store building in February; another individual was arrested last week for igniting a Tesla charging station in South Carolina.

Additionally, several viral clips from the past month depict vandals keying and defacing Tesla vehicles in parking lots.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Thursday that those attacking Tesla vehicles will be classified as domestic terrorists, with attackers facing a minimum of 5 years in prison.

This wave of violence has ensued following Musk’s financial and vocal backing of President Trump during the 2024 election. His support has intensified since Trump returned to office, with Musk leading DOGE initiatives aimed at cutting $1 trillion from the federal budget — about 15% of last year’s expenditures — surprising many with the severity of these cuts.

Consequently, Tesla’s stock has plummeted by 37% since the start of 2025 due to these controversies. This decline has seemingly pleased Musk’s critics, including ABC comedian Jimmy Kimmel and former Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Walz. However, Tesla’s stock saw a slight uptick of 1.5% an hour into trading on Friday, with shares priced at $240.
