A former contestant from Married At First Sight has taken action by performing a citizen’s arrest on a teenager who was allegedly armed with a machete while running through the streets of Melbourne.
According to police reports, two teenage boys were seen chasing another boy down Izett Street in Prahran before 3 PM today, with one of them reportedly wielding a machete.
Tim Smith, who appeared as a groom on season 11 of Married At First Sight, witnessed the incident unfold and restrained one of the boys until law enforcement arrived. The second boy managed to escape.

The police managed to apprehend a 14-year-old boy from the greater Mildura area and confiscated the machete.
Speaking to 3AW Radio, Smith recounted hearing screams before giving chase to the boy who was reportedly armed.
“I was talking to my campaign manager when we heard screams and then two guys with a machete ran past us,” he stated.
Smith pursued the boy for approximately 200 meters while the teenager threatened, “I’m gonna cut you,” until he successfully detained him.

Smith commented, “When they have a knife in their hand, they feel very empowered. But once that weapon is gone, the fear and tears start to show.”
He expressed concerns about the lack of respect among youths, stating, “There’s just no respect anymore.”
Currently, Smith is campaigning as an independent candidate for the Melbourne seat in the upcoming federal election.
“Melbourne is a fantastic city to live in. However, it has declined over the last decade, and we need to implement change. I aim to be that change,” he asserted.
The police are currently questioning the 14-year-old boy involved in the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
