The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully arrested a suspect connected to the brutal murder of Abbas Yuguda, a 35-year-old POS operator, who was attacked in the Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.
This tragic incident occurred on March 22, 2025, as the victim was returning home after closing his business for the day.
According to police reports, a group of armed assailants attacked him, inflicting severe injuries to his head before leaving him in a pool of blood.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday, noting that;
“Upon receiving the distress call, operatives from the Mayo-Belwa Divisional Headquarters swiftly arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital, Mayo-Belwa. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.”
Following the attack, enraged youths in the area tracked down one of the suspects, identified as Umar SNU, and subjected him to mob justice until police intervention saved him.
“The suspect was rushed to the hospital for medical attention and is now aiding the ongoing investigation,” Nguroje added.
In response to this heinous act, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), condemned the senseless killing and assured the public of a thorough investigation to bring all perpetrators to justice.
He also warned against jungle justice, urging residents to report criminal activities to the police rather than taking the law into their own hands.
The Adamawa State Police Command has called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station to prevent further violence in the area.
