Al Hilal is reportedly targeting Mohamed Salah as they prepare for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which could allow him to leave Liverpool before his contract concludes.
With his contract expiring in June 2025 and renewal discussions with Liverpool currently at a standstill, Salah has emerged as one of the most coveted free agents this summer. Among the clubs interested, reports indicate that Saudi club Al Hilal has made an approach to Liverpool to sign the star ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Salah’s contract negotiations, alongside those of teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, have been significant topics this season. However, with no recent updates on a renewal, Al Hilal appears eager to secure the Egyptian international’s services before his contract ends.
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is scheduled to commence on June 15. According to GIVEMESPORT, the Saudi Arabian Soccer Federation plans to utilize an “exceptional window” from June 1-10, allowing clubs to finalize player signings in time for the event, which will take place in the United States.

Although the Saudi Pro League has shifted focus away from acquiring European players, Salah’s potential transfer may enhance the league’s appeal to the region’s Muslim audience and could foster conversations around lucrative TV rights for Egypt and sponsorship opportunities.
Could Salah Leave Liverpool Early?
If Salah were to join Al Hilal during the June “exceptional window,” it would require him to depart from Liverpool nearly a month prior to the expiration of his contract. This poses a challenge, but Liverpool’s upcoming schedule may work to the advantage of the Saudi club.
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, the Saudi Arabian Soccer Federation has already reached out to Liverpool to discuss the possibility of signing Salah before his contract officially concludes. Should Salah choose not to extend his contract, Liverpool could permit him to leave early without any transfer fee for Al Hilal.
Liverpool’s last Premier League match is scheduled for May 25 against Crystal Palace, with a potential Champions League final on May 31 depending on the team’s advancement. With Salah having an outstanding season—scoring 26 goals and providing 18 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions—the lack of an agreement regarding his future adds uncertainty to his situation.
