Anjelica Huston has bravely opened up about her four-year journey after battling cancer. The Oscar-winning actress disclosed her struggles in an exclusive interview with People, revealing that she was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer shortly after the release of the 2019 film “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.” This life-altering diagnosis has profoundly shifted her perspective on life.

Huston expressed, “I managed to survive it, and I’m proud of myself.” She emphasized that the experience made her more aware of what she should avoid, particularly taking life too seriously. Now, she cherishes moments of joy and laughter, stating, “So now when the opportunity arises, I laugh, and I try not to make a big deal out of things.”

Having been “four years in the clear” since her initial diagnosis, Anjelica Huston felt compelled to share her story. She hopes that by doing so, she can inspire others facing similar health challenges or encourage people to prioritize regular health check-ups.

“Sometimes you feel like you don’t want to talk about it for the obvious reasons, but there’s a lot to be said for talking about it and getting it out there and celebrating the fact that one’s come through,” Huston noted. She reflected on the fragility and beauty of life, adding, “Life is tenuous and wonderful. It also gives you the idea that the world is big and you can somehow match up to it. That you’re ready for whatever happens.”

Huston is renowned for her performance as Morticia Addams in the classic 1990s “Addams Family” films. She also received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1986 for her role in “Prizzi’s Honor,” directed by her father, John Huston, who is celebrated for iconic films like “Maltese Falcon” and “The African Queen.” Additionally, she has starred in beloved films such as “Ever After,” “Lonesome Dove,” and “The Grifters.”
