In a significant development in the tech world, Apple is set to reinstate TikTok in the US App Store, according to sources close to the situation. This decision follows a letter from US Attorney General Pam Bondi to Apple, assuring that the tech giant would not face fines for hosting the popular app, as reported by Bloomberg. TikTok is also currently available on Google’s US Play Store.

Previously, both Apple and Google had removed TikTok from their app stores in January to comply with legislation banning apps from ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. Despite President Trump’s executive order on January 20, which directed the Department of Justice to refrain from enforcing the ban for 75 days, Apple and Google hesitated to reintroduce TikTok, primarily due to the potential risk of incurring billions in penalties.

As of now, TikTok, Apple, and the Department of Justice have not responded to inquiries for comment regarding this matter.

For users who had already downloaded TikTok before the ban, the app has remained functional with a brief outage occurring right after the ban was enacted. Moreover, TikTok can still be accessed via the web, and the platform recently began offering its Android app for download outside of the Google Play Store.
