The iPhone 16 Pro offers a high-refresh rate OLED display, a feature that may soon become standard with the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup, according to a leak from Digital Chat Station shared by MacRumors. This source has a track record of accurately leaking details about Apple’s devices, including the camera sensors in the iPhone 15 and the display panel used in the iPhone 12.

The leak about the iPhone 17 is somewhat vague, stating only that the base model will have a high refresh rate. However, it aligns with recent insights from the supply chain that Apple may equip all next year’s iPhones with LTPO panel technology, similar to what drives the ProMotion displays on the iPhone 16 Pro. This was further corroborated by display analyst Ross Young in September, who suggested that the iPhone 17 and 17 Air will feature this technology as well.

In 2025, the next generation of iPhones is expected to replace the current base model “Plus” with an iPhone 17 “Slim.” Young has also indicated that this model will likely feature ProMotion technology. Instead of differentiating the models solely by display technologies, Apple may choose to stratify the lineup in various ways. For instance, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could have a smaller Face ID sensor and Dynamic Island cutout, in addition to providing 12GB of RAM for both sizes of the iPhone 17 Pro, while the standard and Slim models may include 8GB of RAM.

Additionally, the entire iPhone 17 lineup is rumored to come with enhanced 24MP front-facing cameras, a significant upgrade from the current 12MP cameras, and for the first time, they may all utilize an Apple-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip.
