Argentinian President Javier Milei vehemently opposed “the mental virus of woke ideology” in a passionate speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday.
Milei acknowledged the core principles of Western civilization—such as respect for life and liberty, free speech, and religious freedom—as pivotal in facilitating the Industrial Revolution, which lifted “90% of the global population out of poverty.” He denounced wokeism as a destructive force threatening the very essence of the West.
“This is the great epidemic of our time that must be cured. This is the cancer we need to eliminate. This ideology has infiltrated the world’s most significant institutions—from the political parties and governments of leading Western nations to global governance organizations, NGOs, universities, and media outlets,” Milei stated, emphasizing that without breaking these ideological chains, “Western civilization—and humanity—cannot return to the path of progress that our pioneering spirit demands. We must usher in a new golden age.”

Milei did not shy away from discussing gender ideology, criticizing the left for their radical liberal policies.
He condemned leaders who promote the notion that gender identity is solely based on self-perception, pointing out the dangers of allowing a man to dress as a woman and compete in a boxing ring, or the implications of a male prison inmate claiming to be a woman and subsequently assaulting female inmates.
He referenced a disturbing case of a same-sex couple in Georgia, recently jailed for abusing and exploiting their adopted sons to a pedophile ring, according to a report by the New York Post. Milei asserted, “I want to be clear when I say abuse. This is no euphemism, because in its most extreme forms, gender ideology constitutes outright child abuse. They are pedophiles,” he declared.

Calling Elon Musk a close ally, Milei passionately defended children against the threats posed by transgenderism.
“Healthy children are being irreversibly harmed through hormone treatments and mutilation, as if a 5-year-old child could possibly consent to such procedures. If their families resist, state agents will always step in, claiming to act in ‘the best interests of the child.'”
Musk’s biological son transitioned into a girl a few years back, leading the billionaire to express that his child was figuratively “killed” by the “woke mind virus.”
Milei remarked, “Only now are we starting to witness the consequences of an entire generation that has altered their bodies, encouraged by a culture of sexual relativism. These individuals will require lifelong psychiatric care to cope with the irreversible decisions they made. Yet, no one is willing to address these issues. Additionally, the vast majority have been subjected to the misguided self-perceptions of a tiny minority.”
Since taking office in 2023, the libertarian Milei has stabilized Argentina’s chaotic economy, as reported by The Associated Press. He expressed optimism about his country’s future, referring to it as a “new Argentina,” though he remains pessimistic about the broader world unless wokeism is dismantled.
“Believe me, the scandalous experiments carried out in the name of this criminal ideology will be condemned and equated with the atrocities committed during our darkest historical periods.”
Milei concluded with his well-known slogan, “Thank you all very much and long live freedom, damn it.”
