Since last Thursday, a number of creators have decided to stop purchasing Bambu printers and have even taken down certain 3D models from online platforms. This backlash follows Bambu’s announcement of a new proprietary authentication system that could hinder the use of third-party tools for remote printer control.
While users can still transfer files via SD card directly into their printers or utilize Bambu’s own cloud services, the previous method of remotely printing from third-party slicers is set to be discontinued. To bridge this gap, users will need to download a new proprietary “Bambu Connect” desktop app for Windows and Mac, acting as a mediator between their slicer and Bambu’s devices.
