During the thrilling moments of the TGL Championship, Billy Horschel stunned his opponent on the penultimate hole, showcasing his exceptional golfing skills.
If legendary commentator Bill Raftery were to call Game 2 of the inaugural TGL finals, he would have unleashed his famous phrase after Billy Horschel successfully drained a birdie putt on the 14th hole:
“ONIONS!!!”
This iconic line signifies a game-changing shot made late in a match, one that leaves the opponent in tears. Horschel achieved just that, as his impressive birdie putt granted his Atlanta Drive team two crucial points, leading them to a 4-3 advantage over New York with just one hole remaining. Following this, teammate Patrick Cantlay also birdied the final par-5 hole, securing the victory and winning the first-ever SoFi Cup trophy.

“Walking away when the ball was about two feet away, knowing it was going in,” Horschel remarked on ESPN afterward.
“I don’t remember throwing the putter down, but I do remember exclaiming that it was my house. I said it repeatedly. Sorry, I hope you hit that eight-second delay button!”
Horschel’s successful birdie on the 14th hole marked the longest putt he made during the TGL season, according to Justin Ray. The shot was notably challenging, requiring it to navigate down a slope, initially breaking to the right, then curving back left as it approached the hole—a tricky double-breaker that Horschel executed seamlessly, celebrating as if he had just clinched the Ryder Cup for Team USA.
“You have to embrace the uniqueness of this format. It’s different from our typical weekly play. We aim to compete and entertain, which is the essence of this event,” Horschel emphasized.
“We complement each other well. None of us hesitates to let someone else take the lead in those moments. We thrive off one another’s energy, and it’s been fantastic working with all three of my teammates.”
