Three years ago, the dynamic duo of Joseph Kosinski and Jerry Bruckheimer made box office history with the blockbuster hit “Top Gun: Maverick.” Now, they return to the silver screen with their latest project, “F1,” featuring Brad Pitt in a thrilling film that takes viewers around the globe to capture the exhilarating action of Formula One, the world’s premier racing circuit.
Warner Bros. showcased the depth of this action-packed film with an exclusive sneak peek, revealing the first ten minutes of the movie, produced by Apple with an impressive budget of $300 million.
In the gripping opening sequence, we witness Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, waking up in his weathered van, ready to answer the call from his race team for the night shift at the 24 Hours of Daytona.
As Hayes jumps into the car, his team is currently in seventh place. However, through a combination of unfortunate circumstances for other drivers and Hayes’s aggressive driving style, he manages to catapult his team back into the lead. One rival driver is even run off the road, leading to a tense moment where he must be restrained from confronting Hayes after the race, although Hayes is prepared with a wrench just in case.
As dawn breaks, Hayes’ team emerges victorious in the race, but he remains uninterested in participating in the celebration. He avoids touching the trophy or the Rolex watch awarded as a sponsor prize, opting instead to take his $5,000 bonus check, jump into his van, and hit the road.
On his way to the next race, he is approached by F1 team owner Ruben Cervantes, portrayed by Javier Bardem. With just nine races left in the season, Ruben faces the dire prospect of losing his team in a forced sale, and he seeks Hayes’s help to save the team. With a chuckle, Hayes agrees to step in.
Mark your calendars: “F1” is set to hit theaters on June 30.
