Exciting News: The highly anticipated movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s “Verity” has officially set a release date.
Amazon MGM Studios is set to debut the adaptation on May 15, 2026, featuring an impressive cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett.
The official synopsis for “Verity” reveals that struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh is hired as a ghostwriter for the renowned author Verity Crawford under mysterious circumstances. As the story unfolds, Lowen’s assignment takes a dark turn when she uncovers chilling autobiographical notes. Confronted with a series of deadly family secrets, Lowen finds herself struggling to separate fiction from reality while navigating complex emotions with Verity’s husband, Jeremy.
The adaptation’s screenplay has been penned by Nick Antosca, with prior contributions from Colleen Hoover, Lauren Levine, Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, Will Honley, and April Maguire. Antosca also takes on a production role alongside Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, Showalter, Jordana Mollick, Anne Hathaway, and Colleen Hoover. The executive production team features Dakota Johnson, Lauren Levine, and Kerry Orent.
Additional cast members for “Verity” include Ismael Cruz Cordóva and Brady Wagner, enhancing the movie’s appeal.
This adaptation follows the success of Hoover’s previous novel, “It Ends With Us,” which opened last summer under Sony and grossed over $350 million worldwide.
The strategic release of “Verity” on May 15, 2026, cleverly positions it against two other major titles set for that month that cater to a more male audience: Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday” on May 1, 2026, and Lucasfilm’s “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, marking the first significant big-screen “Star Wars” project since the mixed reception of “The Rise of Skywalker” in 2019.
