Netflix and other streaming platforms are actively pursuing YouTube creators, leading to potentially lucrative streaming deals for popular channels like Dude Perfect and former NASA engineer Mark Rober, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The Journal notes that the ambition of streaming platforms to sign creators has accelerated significantly in response to the success of MrBeast’s Beast Games. Amazon has reportedly generated over $100 million in profit from the show and is in the process of negotiating deals for two additional seasons. MrBeast, known for his engaging content, is reportedly asking for over $150 million per season to continue.

Both Rober and Dude Perfect have been approached by Netflix, according to the Journal. However, Netflix typically does not permit promotional sales within the shows it funds, which has become a point of contention in negotiations with Rober, who offers robotics kit subscriptions through his channel. This business model aligns more closely with Amazon’s approach, making it a particularly appealing option for creators like Rober.

Despite these challenges, Netflix has a history of signing YouTube creators. One notable example is the 2016 deal with Colleen Ballinger Evans, known as Miranda Sings, which showcased the platform’s interest in YouTube-based entertainment.
