A bizarre incident in Ohio has led to the death of 75-year-old Rebecca Westergaard Rigney, who was found deceased on her front porch on Christmas Day, possibly due to her neighbor’s pigs.
Law enforcement discovered Rigney outside her home in Pataskala after she failed to attend a holiday gathering. Reports indicate that she was found on the front steps with significant injuries to her legs, according to WBNS.
One officer on the scene reportedly noticed a large pig in the vicinity. This pig, along with another belonging to a neighbor, has been quarantined while police investigate the circumstances surrounding this weird crime.
Authorities suspect that at least one of the pigs may have been involved in Rigney’s tragic death. The Licking County Coroner’s Office has determined that the injuries inflicted by livestock led to Rigney bleeding to death. It’s noted that Rigney had pre-existing heart issues and was on blood thinners, with her death classified as accidental.
The coroner is expected to complete a full report within six weeks. Pataskala Police Chief Bruce Brooks informed the Columbus Dispatch that the owner of the pigs has not faced criminal charges, and it remains uncertain whether any will be pursued in this case.
