Elon Musk, eager to restore his gamer reputation after publicly admitting to account boosting, recently streamed himself playing Path of Exile 2 while in-flight as part of an “airborne continuity test” for his Starlink internet service. However, during the stream, he faced a barrage of viewer messages criticizing his efforts in dismantling the US government and commenting on his controversial personal life.
The stream, which remains available on X, lasted approximately an hour and 45 minutes, during which Musk spoke very little. He silently focused on the game, navigating through its early stages after its early access release in December. Throughout the gameplay, he experienced several character deaths, prompting him to create new avatars while playing on hardcore (permanent death) mode. Here’s a glimpse of one such moment.
Shortly into the stream, Musk began receiving private messages from fellow players. While some praised him as a “god gamer,” others quickly shifted to spammy and abusive comments. One particularly strange message urged him to “make it clap for daddy,” while another claimed to be from Ashley St. Clair, Musk’s former partner who is currently in a custody battle with him over their five-month-old child. More pointedly, one viewer remarked, “Elon, deep down you will always be cringe no matter how much money or power you have.”
Some viewers attempted to assist Musk by suggesting he disable incoming messages, yet he took no action. In the final moments of the broadcast, Musk created a hardcore character named Kekius Maximus, a name reminiscent of meme culture he has used on X. Unfortunately, Kekius Maximus soon met his end, falling to one of the game’s tutorial bosses due to a poor connection, thereby concluding another bizarre chapter in Elon Musk’s journey as a self-proclaimed gamer.
