Michael Owen, the former Manchester United striker, has criticized the Red Devils after their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Wolves during the Premier League match on Boxing Day at Molineux.

Owen described Manchester United’s performance against Wolves as absolutely awful, particularly in their attacking play.

The ex-England international pointed out that the team is struggling to function effectively under their manager, Ruben Amorim.

In his analysis, Owen stated, “I’m looking at the Manchester United team and often they have three players marking one at the back. You’d never see a Liverpool team doing that; they’d all go man for man and push spare players into attacking areas.” He emphasized that this is likely what Amorim is trying to achieve, but currently, the team isn’t performing well.

He further added, “Even if they weren’t conceding many goals, I wouldn’t be optimistic because the team isn’t functioning. They’re absolutely awful going forward; I can’t recall a single chance they created against Wolves.”

This disappointing result leaves Manchester United in 14th place in the Premier League table.
