On Tuesday, police arrested a Florida woman for the heinous act of killing her dog at an airport last year. This alarming incident highlights the serious issue of animal abuse.

Unidentified sources reported to WFTV that Alison Lawrence, 57, allegedly drowned her dog in a bathroom at Orlando International Airport and disposed of it in the trash. The tragic event unfolded when her small dog was denied boarding on a flight due to improper paperwork on December 16.

According to WKMG, an airport employee discovered Lawrence’s deceased dog in a women’s restroom located before security checkpoints, bringing to light the cruelty of animal crimes.

As reported by WESH, Lawrence was attempting to fly from Orlando to Colombia. The airport worker recounted witnessing Lawrence sitting on the bathroom floor, cleaning up water and dog food, which raises further questions about her actions.

Authorities discovered Lawrence’s name and contact information on a dog tag found at the scene. Animal services utilized a microchip to identify the dog—a 9-year-old miniature schnauzer—and subsequently located Lawrence.

WESH reported that surveillance footage showed Lawrence entering the airport with a white dog, corroborating witness accounts of her presence.

Local residents mentioned that Lawrence was often seen walking her dog in the neighborhood, but the pair had been missing for some time. “About a week or two ago, he said, ‘I don’t know why we haven’t seen the lady with the little white dog lately.’ And then we hear this sad story,” a neighbor shared with WKMG.

Lawrence now faces charges of aggravated animal cruelty and was released on a $5,000 bond just hours after her arrest, a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against animal abuse.
