Google is currently testing an innovative AI feature known as Daily Listen, which generates personalized podcasts based on your Search and Discover feed history. This feature is being rolled out to Android and iOS users in the US through Google’s Search Labs, as reported by 9to5Google. Daily Listen functions similarly to the Audio Overviews feature for Google’s NotebookLM project.

This feature utilizes search data and Discover feed interactions to determine which news articles are most relevant to the user. It then summarizes these stories into a concise audio overview lasting about five minutes. Users can access a text transcript and audio controls that allow them to play, pause, mute, rewind, or skip to the next story.

Users participating in Search Labs who choose to opt-in for this experimental feature will find Daily Listen positioned in the personalized widget carousel beneath the Search bar at the top of the Google app. A “Related stories” tab will be located at the bottom of the audio player, allowing users to like or dislike each story with a thumbs up or down, and to explore related topics further.

At this time, there is no information regarding when or if this feature will be made available to the general public. Google’s AI Search Overviews underwent similar testing in Search Labs before being released to a broader audience last year, suggesting that Daily Listen may eventually become a regular feature — ideally one that offers an easier opt-out option compared to AI Overviews.
