Bayern Munich faces a potential setback as star striker Harry Kane may miss the upcoming UEFA Champions League second leg against Celtic due to a sudden injury.

Since his transfer to Bayern Munich, Kane has quickly become one of the most prolific strikers globally, recently capturing the Golden Boot for the 2023-24 season. However, there are growing concerns in Germany as Kane races against the clock to recover from his injury ahead of the critical UEFA Champions League clash with Celtic.

The injury occurred during a recent Bundesliga match against Bayer Leverkusen, which ended in a scoreless draw. Kane collided with Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie during an aerial challenge, resulting in Hincapie’s shoulder striking Kane in the face. The English striker was immediately attended to after collapsing on the pitch.

As reported by The Athletic, Bayern Munich will make a last-minute decision regarding Kane’s participation in the second leg against Celtic. As a precaution, Kane did not participate in Monday’s training session, with the club hoping to allow him sufficient recovery time before the match.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany provided a cautious update on Kane’s condition during a press conference: “It’s nothing serious with Harry, but we don’t have much time to recover. Sometimes an extra day is necessary, but we’ll see how Harry feels tomorrow morning. I’m optimistic it’s nothing major,” Kompany stated.

As Bayern Munich prepares to take on Scottish side Celtic in the second leg of the Champions League playoffs, the absence of Kane could significantly hinder their chances of advancing, particularly after their 2-1 victory in the first leg.

Will Kane Finally Break His Title Curse?

After years of impressive goal-scoring at Tottenham, Kane joined Bayern Munich seeking the elusive major title that has so far escaped him. However, his first season in Germany has already seen Bayern’s long-standing Bundesliga dominance challenged. Bayer Leverkusen interrupted Bayern’s streak by clinching their first-ever Bundesliga title, further complicating Kane’s quest for silverware.

Despite being eliminated from the DFB Pokal, Bayern remains in a strong position in the Bundesliga, boasting 17 wins, four draws, and only one defeat across 22 matches. The team holds a comfortable lead at the top of the table, sitting eight points ahead of second-placed Leverkusen.

While Bayern may not be considered top favorites for the Champions League this season, their rich history and the presence of key players like Kane and Jamal Musiala keep them as serious contenders. With his sights set on finally breaking his trophy drought, this could be the season Kane finally ends his long wait for silverware.
