The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has ended, following the initiation of airstrikes by Israeli fighter jets on the Gaza Strip. This action comes after Hamas consistently declined multiple offers for a hostage deal, according to official statements.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have commenced targeting Hamas terrorist positions across Gaza. This is part of their broader strategy to achieve the objectives set by Israeli political leadership, which includes securing the release of all hostages, both living and deceased, as noted in a letter from Defense Minister Israel Katz.
The letter further emphasizes that “This decision arises after Hamas persistently refused to release our hostages and dismissed all proposals put forth by U.S. President’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, and other mediators.” This highlights the ongoing tensions and the complexities involved in negotiations.
Authorities have indicated that Israel will escalate its military operations against Hamas in the coming days.
“Under the guidance of the political echelon, the IDF and Shin Bet are actively targeting terrorist assets of the Hamas organization throughout the Gaza Strip. More details will follow,” stated a joint announcement from the IDF and Shin Bet, which is Israel’s internal security agency.
