The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has issued a stern warning that anyone attempting to incite chaos in Kano State will face dire consequences.
Sanusi emphasized that the ongoing struggle over the Kano Emirate is ultimately in God’s hands, urging the residents to remain calm and avoid any actions that may lead to unrest.
These remarks were made in a viral video following the recent Appeal Court judgement.
The Abuja Division of the Appeal Court nullified the previous ruling of the Federal High Court in Kano.
This ruling had previously invalidated Sanusi’s appointment amid a contentious emirate dispute within Kano State.
The order nullifying Sanusi’s appointment was delivered by Justice Abubakar Liman on June 20, 2024, at the Kano Division of the Federal High Court.
However, the Appeal Court criticized the Federal High Court’s ruling.
Sanusi stated: “As you all know, the Appeal Court has confirmed that the Federal High Court lacks jurisdiction over emirate matters. This judgement was anticipated, and those who brought the case to court were aware of this reality.”
“Even the judge who issued the original order recognized the limitations of his jurisdiction. Those who influenced him to make that decision were also aware of the truth.”
“For the past eight months, their motivation has been to promote selfish interests and incite unrest in this region.”
“Despite these attempts, we can proudly say that the state has remained peaceful, without violence or disorder. We call upon everyone to continue fostering peace and unity.”
“This struggle is not ours but God’s. God does not require assistance from anyone. Let us continue to pray for His guidance and intervention. May God protect us, and may those who seek to instigate chaos in Kano be consumed by their own flames.”
“To those who wish harm upon Kano or its tranquility, may they face the consequences of their own actions.”
