According to Daily Mail, Leicester City FC is reportedly open to offers for their Belgian defender, Wout Faes, with a valuation set at around £15 million for the 25-year-old.

This potential decision to part ways with Faes is part of a broader defensive strategy under manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, as Leicester aims to enhance their squad in a bid to avoid relegation while also improving their financial standing.

Wout Faes’s Time at Leicester City FC Coming to an End

Wout Faes joined Leicester City FC in the summer of 2022 as a direct replacement for Wesley Fofana, coming off strong performances in Ligue 1 with Reims. Known for his aggressive tackling, aerial prowess, and leadership skills, he quickly established himself as a vital part of Leicester’s defensive line.

However, his tenure at the club has been a mixed affair, highlighted by flashes of brilliance interspersed with notable mistakes.

Under former manager Steve Cooper, Faes was a consistent starter, participating in every match. Yet, he has seen his playing time diminish under Ruud van Nistelrooy, who favors the seasoned duo of Conor Coady and Jannik Vestergaard for the central defensive roles.

Faes made a rare appearance during Leicester’s recent FA Cup victory against QPR, netting a goal in their impressive 6-2 win, yet his future with the club remains uncertain.

Van Nistelrooy Aims to Strengthen Leicester’s Defense

Leicester City FC is currently navigating a defensive overhaul as van Nistelrooy addresses the squad’s vulnerabilities.

The club is reportedly close to finalizing a £3 million deal for Parma defender Woyo Coulibaly, alongside actively monitoring Udinese center-back Thomas Kristensen.

Additionally, Caleb Okoli, who joined from Atalanta last summer, may also exit the club as he garners interest from Serie A teams, with van Nistelrooy considering him surplus to requirements. Parma is among the clubs pursuing Okoli.

With Leicester sitting 19th in the Premier League table with just 14 points, the January transfer window could be pivotal for their survival aspirations. Strengthening their squad—especially in defense—will be crucial to reversing their fortunes this season.

The possible sale of Faes could generate funds for further reinforcements, but the Foxes must ensure any new signings can quickly adapt to the challenges of the Premier League.
