LG is already showcasing its innovative gaming monitors ahead of CES, leading with the UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor. This groundbreaking device is touted as the “world’s first 5K2K-resolution bendable OLED display.” While that’s a bold claim, being first in such a specific category is impressive. The 45-inch monitor features a stunning resolution of 5120×2160, offering the same vertical pixel count as a typical 4K screen but with a much broader canvas for gaming.
With a 21:9 aspect ratio, LG asserts this monitor delivers a more immersive gaming experience compared to standard 16:9 displays, while also ensuring better compatibility with content than the 32:9 monitors. This aspect ratio makes it an excellent choice for productivity tasks outside of gaming as well.
The UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor (model 45GX990A) is capable of transitioning from a completely flat screen to a 900R curvature. The latest iteration of LG’s Dual-Mode feature allows users to seamlessly switch between resolution and refresh rate presets, and customize both the aspect ratio and picture size. It is compatible with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, although specific details on the maximum refresh rate are still pending.

Alongside the bendable model, LG is also launching a non-bendable variant featuring a fixed 800R curve. This model shares the same 45-inch size, aspect ratio, and 5K2K resolution. According to LG’s press release, users can expect “sharp, lifelike images with the stunning colors and exceptional contrast that LG OLED products are renowned for.” Both monitors boast a rapid 0.03ms (GtG) response time and support for DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with 90W power delivery. The 45GX950A employs a RGWB subpixel layout to enhance text readability and ease strain during productivity tasks.
In addition to these two models, LG is introducing the curved UltraGear 39GX90SA, a webOS-powered “home entertainment hub” that provides easy access to streaming services, reminiscent of LG’s TV offerings. This 39-inch model is smaller than the other GX9 displays but maintains the 21:9 aspect ratio and 800R curve. It features USB Type-C ports for convenient connectivity, along with LG’s ergonomic and space-saving L-shaped stand, ensuring a tidy desk setup.
As is common with CES announcements, pricing details and specific release dates will be disclosed later in 2025. However, attendees will have the opportunity to see the UltraGear GX9 series in person in Las Vegas, so stay tuned for early impressions next month, along with a plethora of stunning displays from various other brands.
