Tragedy struck in Louisiana on Thursday as two children and one woman fell victim to a fatal stabbing incident at a home in Amite.

Just after 4:30 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance call and discovered the three victims “stabbed to death”, according to reports from People Magazine.

WAFB reported that one of the victims was identified as Rhonda Powell, 40, a cousin of Deondra Robertson-Warner. The other two victims were identified by Warner as Hayden, 1, and Braylon, 10.

On Warner’s GoFundMe page, she revealed that Braylon was Powell’s son while Hayden was her nephew.

The suspect, Ryant Jones, 31, has been arrested and is reported to have a known history of schizophrenia, as stated by WAFB.

According to Warner, Jones was not only a family member but also had a documented history of schizophrenia. She claimed that at the time of the attack, he was experiencing a severe mental health episode.

Warner recounted that Jones had been taken to a hospital for mental health issues the Wednesday prior, but the hospital released him without providing the necessary care.

Jones was administered medication and sent back to the family home. Warner stated, “She pleaded with the doctor to administer the injection that usually helps. Instead, the doctor prescribed a pill. Both my aunt and his brother requested that he be committed for observation due to aggressive behavior, but their concerns were dismissed.”

Jones is facing three counts of first-degree murder in this heartbreaking case.
