Now that’s music to our ears!

Madonna and Elton John have officially ended their decades-long feud this weekend after they shared a heartfelt photo together from behind the scenes of Saturday Night Live (SNL), where John was the musical guest alongside Brandi Carlile.

“We finally buried the hatchet!” Madonna expressed in an Instagram post. “I went to see Elton John perform on SNL this weekend! Wow. I remembered sneaking out of the house in high school to see Elton perform live in Detroit. It was an unforgettable performance that helped me understand the transformative power of music. Witnessing him perform changed the course of my life. Growing up, I always felt like an outsider, and watching him on stage made me realize it was okay to be different and to embrace my uniqueness.”

“Over the decades, it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much publicly expressed his dislike for me as an artist,” she continued. “When I learned that Elton John was the musical guest on SNL, I felt compelled to go backstage and confront him. When we met, the first thing he said was, ‘Forgive me,’ and just like that, the wall between us came down. Forgiveness is a powerful tool, and within minutes, we were hugging.”

John himself responded to Madonna’s post, confirming that their past issues are resolved. “Thank you for coming to see me at SNL,” he wrote. “And thank you for forgiving me and my big mouth. I regret my past comments. Particularly when I reflect on all the groundbreaking achievements you’ve made as an artist – paving the way for a generation of female artists to be true to themselves. You were also one of the first to stand up against HIV/AIDS in the ’80s, bringing love and compassion to those in need.”

“I’m grateful we can move forward,” the Rocket Man singer added. “In today’s world, divisiveness is distressing. Both you and I have been embraced by communities facing adversity globally. Together, I’m hopeful we can make a significant impact for those who need support and have a great time doing it!”

The feud between these two pop icons dates back to 2004, when John publicly insulted Madonna at The Q Awards, criticizing her for lip syncing. Since then, they have exchanged jabs at each other over the years.

Even Brandi Carlile was excited about the news, commenting, “Whatever happens to this country, the gays won today, folks.”
