A man wanted by police in connection with an alleged cold case murder in Queensland has been apprehended in Sydney following a national manhunt.
Keith Lees, 72, was arrested at a property on Kenthurst Road in Dural yesterday morning under an arrest warrant issued in July 2023 related to the alleged murder of Meaghan Louise Rose on the Sunshine Coast in 1997.
The 25-year-old’s remains were discovered at the base of Point Cartwright Cliffs at Mooloolaba, Queensland, in July 1997.

Initially, her death was deemed a suicide but has now been classified as a murder by law enforcement.
Lees was transported to Hornsby Police Station where he faces charges including the warrant for assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty without aggravated bodily harm, handling identity information to commit an indictable offence, and possessing identity information for the same purpose.
Authorities allege that Lees attempted to bite an officer during his detention.

Lees was denied bail and is scheduled to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
NSW Police have indicated that the Queensland Police Service intends to apply for his extradition.
