Microsoft is gradually rolling out a preview of its innovative Recall feature, designed to capture screenshots of your activities on Copilot Plus PCs for easy retrieval later. This update is being sent to Windows Insiders, as detailed in a recent blog post.
This rollout suggests that Microsoft is nearing a broader launch of Recall, which was initially expected to debut alongside Copilot Plus PCs last June. However, the feature faced delays due to concerns from security experts. The anticipated launch date was moved to October, but it was postponed again to ensure a “secure and trusted experience.”
In November, Microsoft provided a preview of Recall to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel specifically for Qualcomm Copilot Plus PCs, with a subsequent preview for Intel- and AMD-powered Copilot Plus PCs following shortly. After weeks of testing, technology journalist Tom Warren described Recall as “creepy, clever, and compelling” in his review.
According to Microsoft’s latest blog post, users must opt in to save snapshots with Recall, and they have the flexibility to pause the saving process at any time.
