New Windows 11 Start Menu

Microsoft is introducing an innovative design for the Windows 11 Start menu that is larger and more customizable than the current version. Windows enthusiast phantomofearth has uncovered this new design in recent Windows 11 builds. The updated Start menu features a more spacious layout and finally allows users to disable the recommended feed of files and applications.

The recommended feed has been a significant frustration for Windows 11 users transitioning from Windows 10, as it occupies considerable space on the Start menu, with many not needing to see their recent files and apps. The redesigned Start menu from Microsoft now consolidates everything onto a single scrollable page, and users can easily access all apps without navigating to a separate section.

The all apps view is now readily accessible and can be customized to a category view or a list format, depending on user preference. With this expanded Start menu, users can pin more applications, accommodating up to 8 per row with no limitation of just three rows.

Microsoft has commenced testing this revamped Start menu design in the 24H2 builds of Windows 11, and has also backported it to the 23H2 versions. This indicates that this new layout will soon be available to all Windows 11 users in the upcoming weeks or months.
