The search is ongoing for the missing 1-year-old Alabama boy, Kahleb Collins, who was reported missing following the tragic deaths of his sister and father earlier this month.

According to residents interviewed by WTTO, investigators conducted a search at Kahleb Collins’ home before Christmas. He was reported missing on December 9, just a day after his father and sister lost their lives in a car crash in Fayette County, which left his mother with serious injuries.

Neighbors noted they seldom saw Collins, and his father mentioned that he had medical issues. They also indicated that they were informed the toddler had gone to live with family members, although it remains unclear who provided that information.

Investigators have confirmed that Collins was not present during the December 8 crash and had actually vanished on September 4. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency revealed that the toddler’s parents were not wearing seatbelts at the time, and their daughter was not in a car seat. It was also determined that the father was driving at 92 mph before veering off the road and crashing into a tree, which resulted in him being ejected from the vehicle.

Following the tragic incident, Collins’ grandfather, John Bailey, aged 50, was arrested for failing to report the disappearance of Kahleb Collins. According to WTTO, authorities suspect that Collins may have been injured and moved from his family home.

The whereabouts of Kahleb Collins remain unknown, and it is still uncertain whether his case is being classified as a homicide. Meanwhile, Bailey is currently held on a $100,000 bail.
