A man has been charged with murder in connection to the 2006 disappearance of Victorian man Christopher Jarvis, just weeks after another man was sentenced regarding this cold case. This significant development adds to the ongoing investigation into Jarvis’ disappearance.
Today, the Missing Persons Squad charged a 72-year-old man from Wangoom, near Warrnambool, with murder after the 38-year-old went missing in the same area. This case has garnered national attention due to its mysterious circumstances.
The accused is set to face the Warrnambool Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, as the legal proceedings continue in this high-profile murder case.

This recent arrest marks the second breakthrough in the case within weeks, following the sentencing of Glenn Fenwick, 61, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter earlier this month. These developments are crucial in the ongoing search for justice for Jarvis.
Christopher Jarvis was last seen around 6 AM on June 13, 2006, when he left his home on Warrne Road in Wangoom, where he lived with his partner and stepchildren. When he failed to arrive at work, his colleagues reached out to his partner around 7:30 AM, raising concerns about his whereabouts.
His vehicle was later found in flames at the popular Warrnambool lookout, Thunder Point, around 8 AM. Initial investigations deemed his disappearance non-suspicious, but the case was subsequently handed to the Missing Persons Squad after new information emerged from the public.
Tragically, Jarvis’ remains have never been discovered, leaving many unanswered questions in this case. Fenwick was sentenced to a maximum of five-and-a-half years in prison on March 11, with the possibility of parole as early as August this year.
It was revealed in court that Jarvis was killed over an ongoing property dispute, highlighting the complex motives behind such violent acts. In August 2023, prosecutors dropped a murder charge against another 71-year-old man related to the case, further complicating the narrative.
Anyone with additional information regarding Chris’ disappearance or the whereabouts of his remains is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 300 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
