The political landscape is tightly contested as the two major parties find themselves in a dead heat, with the latest polling indicating a two-party preferred vote of 50-50 between Labor and the Coalition ahead of the upcoming federal election.
YouGov’s recent public data poll reveals that Labor’s primary vote remains steady at 31 percent, while the Coalition has made a slight gain, rising to a 37 percent primary vote. The Greens are currently at 13 percent (down 0.5 percent), One Nation at seven percent (-0.5 percent), and Independents at eight percent (down one percent).

The Trumpet of Patriots remains stable at one percent, while the “other parties” category has seen its primary vote increase to three percent. Albanese continues to lead as the preferred prime minister, with 45 percent of voters supporting him compared to 40 percent for Peter Dutton.
According to YouGov director of public data Paul Smith, “The election is evenly poised with the two-party preferred vote split at 50 percent to 50 percent, but Anthony Albanese has consolidated his lead as prime minister with 45 percent support.”

However, satisfaction ratings for both party leaders remain negative. Albanese holds a net satisfaction rating of -9 percent, with 41 percent of respondents satisfied and 50 percent dissatisfied. Meanwhile, Dutton’s rating stands at -5 percent, with 42 percent satisfaction and 47 percent dissatisfaction.
The survey was conducted between March 14 and March 19.
