The Nigerian Navy announced the arrest of drug smugglers in Lagos State on Monday, February 10, 2025. This information was shared in a post on the official Nigerian Navy Facebook page.
According to the Navy, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT Quick Response Team (QRT), stationed at Tarkwa Bay, intercepted a large wooden boat that was heading towards the Benin Republic. The boat was carrying seven suspects, 408 empty drums, three pumping machines, and eight Yamaha 40HP outboard engines.
Additionally, on the same day, NNS BEECROFT QRT apprehended two suspects involved in smuggling cannabis sativa in the Topo, Badagry area.
On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the NNS BEECROFT intercepted 28 bags of cannabis sativa weighing over 756kg near Long Jetty, Ibeche Beach.
All arrested suspects and confiscated items have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps in accordance with the Nigerian Navy Standard Operating Procedure for further investigation and potential prosecution.
