The Nigerian troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully eliminated notorious bandit leaders in Katsina and Zamfara States, continuing their offensive against terrorist elements in the North West region.
In Katsina State, the troops conducted a successful operation in Mai Sheka village, Kunchin Kalgo town, where they neutralized several terrorists, including the infamous kingpin, Alhaji Ma’oli.
According to counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama, intelligence sources indicated that Ma’oli was involved in imposing levies and conducting various criminal activities in areas such as Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, Magazawa, Unguwar Dan Halima, Unguwar Dan Mairo, and Katangan Yamma.
In a similar operation in Zamfara State, the Counter Terrorism Team 7 (CT 7) encountered bandits along the Bilbis-Danjigba axis under Tsafe Local Government Area during a patrol on December 25. During this engagement, Kachalla Muchelli, a notorious bandit commander and leader of the Kuchi Kalgo camp, was also neutralized.
Military sources confirmed that these operations are part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian troops to eradicate banditry and terrorism in the region.
