Omar Marmoush: The Future Star of Manchester City
According to Tottenham cult hero Mido, Omar Marmoush, the Egyptian forward, is destined to improve further at Manchester City. Mido has drawn comparisons between Marmoush and his former teammate Jermain Defoe.

Marmoush transferred to Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January, with a deal rising to £63 million. After a slow start with four games without a goal contribution, the 26-year-old made his mark in style during last Saturday’s 4-0 demolition of Newcastle.
He netted a remarkable first hat-trick in just 14 minutes, demonstrating why he was the Premier League’s most expensive winter signing. Despite some initial skepticism from fans regarding Marmoush‘s impact at City, Mido has always believed in the player’s potential.
Mido was the one who gave the ex-Wolfsburg star his senior debut at the age of 17 while managing Egyptian club Wadi Degla in 2016. Speaking on the talkSPORT Breakfast show, Mido expressed his confidence in Marmoush making a significant impact in England.
He stated, “I’m not surprised by his performance from last weekend; I know him very well. He is brave and possesses the character to compete at the highest level. The boy has quality. It’s a fantastic investment for Manchester City at this stage in his career. I believe that 26 or 27 is the ideal age for a striker or attacking player.”

Mido continued, “This is the peak of a player’s career. He’s a top striker who can also excel as a winger. His clever movement and timing will allow him to score more goals as the City team improves.”
Mido added, “It may take some time for him to adjust to the Premier League, especially since Manchester City isn’t performing at its best this season. However, he has the ability to enhance the squad significantly. He can play as a left winger, right winger, and even as a striker if [Erling] Haaland is unavailable. I expect him to shine this season and take on a starring role next season as City reinforces its lineup.”

Mido remarked on Marmoush’s playing style, saying, “He’s a direct player who doesn’t focus on touching the ball frequently. Instead, he makes the right movements at the right times, excelling in positioning for tap-ins. He can complement Haaland well, as Haaland’s physical presence and ball control will make Marmoush’s job easier.”
He compared Marmoush to Defoe, stating, “Marmoush’s quality lies in his ability to run behind defenders and stretch opposing defenses. He may not always seek the ball at his feet, but he excels in making runs that create opportunities.”
Following his standout performance against Newcastle, Marmoush will now aim to aid Manchester City in their quest to advance to the Champions League last-16. Currently, Pep Guardiola’s squad trails Real Madrid 3-2 heading into the knockout play-off second leg at the Bernabeu.
