The PlayStation Network (PSN) is currently facing significant gaming issues as of Friday evening. According to Sony’s PSN status page, various services including account management, gaming and social features, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and the PlayStation Direct website are all experiencing disruptions.

Specifically for gaming, users may encounter difficulties when trying to launch games, apps, or access network features. Reports indicate that some players are unable to load their purchased digital games or view their friends, trophies, or online status on their PS5 consoles. Sony is committed to resolving these problems “as soon as possible.”

Sony’s status website indicates that the issues began at 7 PM ET, although user reports on Downdetector started to surge around 6 PM ET. Currently, there are fewer than 70,000 reports of issues, although this number appears to be declining. A thread on r/PlayStation discussing the outage has garnered more than 1,600 comments.

As of now, Sony has not responded to requests for comment.

Previously, PSN experienced an outage lasting approximately eight hours in October, along with a partial outage in May as detailed in this article.
