With just two days remaining before the first leg of the Champions League against Manchester City, Real Madrid faces yet another injury setback, adding to the list of sidelined players, including Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba.

As the Spanish giants prepare to clash with Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League playoffs, they are grappling with a mounting injury crisis. Key players such as Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are already out, and now, just two days before their crucial showdown against City, another player has joined their ranks on the sidelines.

Defensive issues have plagued Real Madrid this season. With Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal suffering season-ending injuries, Alaba and Rudiger were anticipated to form the backbone of the defense. However, both defenders have also been injured leading up to this pivotal match against Manchester City, and now another player has been confirmed as unavailable.

Real Madrid has revealed that right-back Lucas Vazquez has sustained a muscle injury in his left leg’s hamstring. Consequently, he has been excluded from the squad for the upcoming Champions League encounter. Vazquez, who experienced discomfort during the Atletico Madrid derby, underwent tests that confirmed the severity of the injury.

Following the tests conducted today on our player Lucas Vazquez by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the hamstring of his left leg. He will not be part of the squad for the Manchester match. Pending further evaluation,” stated Real Madrid in an official announcement.

With both Carvajal and Vazquez now sidelined, coach Carlo Ancelotti will be compelled to find alternative solutions for the right-back position. One adjustment made this season has involved moving midfielder Federico Valverde to this role. With Eduardo Camavinga fully recovered, Ancelotti will have ample options in midfield.

The squad for the Manchester City game

Due to the recent injuries, Real Madrid has had to modify its squad for the Manchester City clash. The defensive line is the most affected, leaving the team with only six players available for four positions.

In the defensive line-up against Manchester City, Real Madrid will depend on four players from “La Fabrica: left-back Fran Garcia (25 years old), center-backs Jacobo Ramon (20) and Raul Asencio (21), and right-back Lorenzo Aguado (22).
