Following some apparent outages yesterday, Reddit is facing additional issues on Friday evening. Many users are reporting difficulties accessing the platform.
When attempting to log in via desktop browsers, Reddit fails to load entirely, leading users to error pages. However, in incognito mode, the site loads, albeit slower than usual. Additionally, I was able to access the site on mobile Safari while logged out, and it worked after logging in.
According to Reddit’s status page, in a message posted at 7:58 PM ET, the platform stated, “We’re experiencing an elevated level of errors and are currently looking into the issue.” This acknowledgment comes as Reddit users express their frustrations.
Downdetector indicates a significant spike in outage reports, peaking at around 80,000 as of this writing. This surge began shortly after 7:30 PM ET, highlighting the extent of the current disruptions.
The company has not yet responded to requests for further comment regarding these issues.
Yesterday, the platform reportedly experienced international outages, according to the global internet monitor NetBlocks. Interestingly, I did not encounter any issues during those reported outages.
