On Monday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that White South Africans facing threats of violence would be welcomed in the United States.

This statement comes amid rising tensions between the South African government and the Trump administration, primarily concerning the country’s controversial land expropriation law and its anti-Israel policies.

In a recent post on X, Rubio referenced the “Kill the Boer,” an anti-apartheid chant that critics argue incites violence against White farmers, highlighting concerns about anti-White sentiments.

Rubio stated, “South Africa’s leaders must take decisive action to protect Afrikaner and other marginalized minorities. The United States is proud to offer refuge to those who qualify amid this ongoing violence.”

The Trump administration has expressed strong opposition to South Africa‘s land expropriation policy and its stance against Israel. The expropriation law permits the government to seize land without compensation, a move that has alarmed many. In February, Trump issued an executive order penalizing South Africa for these actions.

The executive order criticized the South African government for enacting the Expropriation Act 13 of 2024, which allows for the seizure of agricultural property owned by ethnic minority Afrikaners without compensation.

Additionally, South Africa has leveled accusations against Israel in the International Court of Justice, alleging genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The nation is also strengthening ties with Iran, aiming to establish military and nuclear partnerships.

Earlier this month, Rubio declared South Africa’s ambassador to the U.S. unwelcome, labeling Embrahim Rasool a “race-baiting” politician who disdains America and Trump.

While addressing the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA) in Johannesburg, Rasool criticized Trump’s Make America Great Again movement as a White supremacist reaction to demographic shifts in the U.S. In response, Rubio branded the ambassador “PERSONA NON GRATA”, indicating he is not welcome in the country.
