In a concerning turn of events during the match against Fiorentina, AC Milan’s star striker Santiago Gimenez suffered an injury just 25 minutes into the game, raising significant concerns among fans and the team’s management.

AC Milan managed to stage an impressive comeback from a 2-0 deficit, ultimately drawing 2-2 against Fiorentina in Matchday 31 of the 2024-25 Serie A season. However, the injury to Santiago Gimenez has cast a shadow over the team’s performance as he was substituted early due to this setback.

The first half concluded with Fiorentina leading 2-1, prompting Milan to aim for a strong second-half performance. After being substituted in for Tammy Abraham in the 55th minute, Gimenez witnessed Milan’s equalizer, scored by Luka Jovic in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, his time on the pitch was abruptly ended.

In the 76th minute, Christian Pulisic delivered a long ball towards Gimenez, who was attempting to exploit the space behind the defensive line. However, a collision occurred with Fiorentina’s goalkeeper, David De Gea, leading to Gimenez falling awkwardly on his left side.

Gimenez was visibly in pain and received immediate attention from Milan’s medical staff. Although he initially returned to the field, he ultimately collapsed, clutching his left intercostal area and knee. In the 80th minute, he was replaced by Joao Félix.

As of now, AC Milan has not disclosed the severity of Gimenez’s injury. Coach Sergio Conceicao remains hopeful that the talented forward can recover in time for the upcoming match against Udinese on Friday.

Milan Faces Challenges Without Key Forwards

Despite managing to earn a point after being down 2-0, Milan’s forward line is facing additional challenges. Tammy Abraham was also substituted in the 55th minute due to a muscular injury, which was quickly followed by Gimenez’s injury.

With both players unavailable, Conceicao is left with only Jovic as the remaining striker option. The Serbian forward, who has struggled for form this season, recently scored back-to-back goals against Napoli and Fiorentina, providing a crucial boost for Milan as they navigate through these injuries.
