In a recent cold open on “Saturday Night Live,” James Austin Johnson portrayed President Donald Trump, who humorously detailed his controversial tariffs decisions. The segment teased a new era in Trump’s presidency, coining the phrase “MAGDA: Make America Great Depression Again.”

Johnson’s Trump exclaimed, “My favorite word, tariff, which, of course, is short for terrific idea,” while reenacting his speech from the rose garden earlier that Wednesday.

He elaborated, saying, “It’ll be great. It’ll be better than great. It will be a fantastic, unbelievable depression, never seen before. This depression is going to be so great that we’ll be the ones eating the cats and the dogs.”

Adding to the comedic lineup, Mike Myers made a guest appearance as Elon Musk, introducing a new Tesla Model V. This model humorously features the option for users to choose a penis or a swastika as a design on the electric car.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump announced his most expansive tariffs yet, affecting over 100 trading partners, including the European Union, China, Britain, and India. Notably, Mexico and Canada, which had previously faced tariffs, were exempt from this new wave.
