The Last of Us is set to return to HBO and Max this April. Neil Druckmann, the series creative director, announced the premiere of the highly anticipated second season onstage at CES, alongside a brief teaser. Although a specific premiere date has not yet been provided, fans are eagerly awaiting the show’s comeback.

The first season of The Last of Us concluded in March 2023, meaning that there will be over two years between seasons by the time the new one premieres. The inaugural season received critical acclaim, particularly for its adaptation of a video game, setting high expectations for the upcoming season.

This new season is expected to explore part of the story from the second game, with plans to divide the complete narrative across two or more seasons. In an interview last year, showrunner Craig Mazin indicated, “We don’t think that we’re going to be able to tell the story even within two seasons [2 and 3] because we’re taking our time and going down interesting pathways, which we did a little bit in Season 1 too,” as reported by Deadline.

In addition to the return of The Last of Us, Sony has announced several other adaptations of PlayStation titles. Notably, Ghost of Tsushima will be transformed into an anime series, while both Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers 2 are being developed into films.
