Tony Roberts, who appeared in six Woody Allen films including “Annie Hall,” died Friday at the age of 85.

Tony Roberts, a talented actor known for his roles in six Woody Allen films, including the iconic “Annie Hall,” passed away on Friday at the age of 85.

His daughter, Nicole Burley, confirmed to the New York Times that he succumbed to complications from lung cancer at his residence in Manhattan.

Roberts made his film debut in Woody Allen’s 1972 comedy “Play It Again, Sam,” and subsequently starred in five additional films by the acclaimed director: “Annie Hall,” “Stardust Memories,” “A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy,” “Hannah and Her Sisters,” and “Radio Days.”

In addition to his film career, Roberts was a seasoned Broadway performer, earning two nominations: one for best actor in a musical for the 1968 production of “How Now, Dow Jones” and another for featured actor in a play for his role in Allen’s “Play It Again, Sam,” which was later adapted into the 1972 film.
