A tragic incident unfolded between two students at a Texas middle school, leading to the death of one student.
Serenity Baker, a 14-year-old girl, was fatally stabbed on Monday at Roy J. Smith Middle School in Killeen by another student, also 14 years old, as reported by Click2Houston.
Emergency services rushed Serenity to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, but sadly, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after noon, according to the Killeen Police Department.
The suspect, also 14 years old, has been taken into custody. Due to her age, the identity of the suspect has not been disclosed, as reported by Click2Houston.
In a statement, the Killeen Police Department expressed their condolences, stating, “We recognize the emotional impact of this incident on the victim’s family, students, staff, and the entire Killeen community. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we extend our support to those in need. We ask for the public’s patience and cooperation as detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division continue their investigation.”
The community has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses. On the donation page, Serenity is remembered as “a bright, loving, and compassionate young soul with a promising future ahead of her. She brought joy to everyone around her, and her kindness touched so many lives.”
