Trump Interrupts Lin-Manuel Miranda in SNL Cold Open about Politics and EGOT

In America, we will have leaders, but know one thing: In America, we will never have a king!" Miranda sang, only for Johnson’s Trump to slide into frame and proclaim, "Never say never! Kidding, of course, though in many ways I’m not. I’m in my king era, but just like the founding fathers, I am creating a new country as well. And just like them, we’re doing it very whitely!”

In the latest episode of “Saturday Night Live” (SNL), viewers were treated to unexpected moments, starting with a flashback to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The highlight was a cameo by Lin-Manuel Miranda, reprising his iconic role as Alexander Hamilton. However, the magic was quickly interrupted by SNL cast member James Austin Johnson, returning as President Trump.

Miranda sang, “In America, we will have leaders, but know one thing: In America, we will never have a king!” Just then, Johnson’s Trump made a grand entrance, quipping, “Never say never! Kidding, of course, though in many ways I’m not. I’m in my king era, but just like the founding fathers, I am creating a new country as well. And just like them, we’re doing it very whitely!”

Johnson’s portrayal of Trump continued with an amusing brag about his many achievements since resuming his role as president—while Miranda was hilariously forced to remain still behind him. “He’s in sniffing distance of an EGOT, and he’s gotta stand there until I’m done,” Johnson’s Trump remarked with a smirk.
