The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reported on Sunday that the location of notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, remains unknown. This comes after NAF confirmed that while Turji’s whereabouts are unclear, several of his associates were eliminated during a recent airstrike targeting bandits in Zamfara State.
In a statement released by NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, it was disclosed that key bandit commanders were killed in an extensive series of airstrikes conducted in Zamfara State.
Akinboyewa stated that these strikes, executed in conjunction with ground forces, resulted in numerous injuries among the bandits.
“Scores of bandits were neutralized, while many others, including some high-ranking commanders, sustained varying degrees of injuries. Following the intense confrontation, Kachallah Turji’s location remains elusive, further straining his dwindling network,” the statement read.
The operation, termed Operation Fansan Yamma, was characterized as a well-coordinated air-ground assault, underscoring the Armed Forces’ commitment to restoring peace and security in the North-West region.
Additionally, the statement highlighted that the operation was meticulously planned, featuring real-time coordination from an Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance platform overhead, which ensured precise target correlation.
