Ubisoft has announced a significant “strategic update” today, which includes a delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This highly anticipated entry in the franchise, set in feudal Japan, will now release on March 20, 2025, pushed back from its original February 14th launch date.

According to a press release from Ubisoft, the decision to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows aims to enhance gameplay quality and deliver an engaging Day-1 experience. Ubisoft stated, “This additional time will allow the team to better incorporate player feedback gathered over the past three months and help create the best conditions for launch while continuing to engage closely with the increasingly positive Assassin’s Creed community.”

This marks the second delay for the game, which was initially slated for release on November 15th, before being postponed to February 2025.

Additionally, Ubisoft has appointed leading advisors to explore various transformational strategic and capitalistic options aimed at maximizing value for stakeholders. The company has committed to informing the market regarding any significant developments in accordance with applicable regulations.

Ubisoft has faced challenges recently, with Star Wars Outlaws not meeting sales expectations and the announcement of the shutdown of XDefiant, a live-service shooter, earlier this month.
