The multibillion-dollar Stargate Project, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, aims to establish data centers that will transform the USA into a computing power empire, as explained by experts in the field.

Many believe that this significant enhancement in U.S. computational capabilities will further widen the gap with China in the realm of artificial intelligence.

“This is an industrial buildout that, at least right now, China is not positioned to match due to the [semiconductor] export controls imposed by the United States,” stated Dean W. Ball, a research fellow at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center. Nonetheless, indications show that China is closing the gap with U.S. companies in critical AI metrics by leveraging open-source software.
