Eric Murray #23 of the Houston Texans returns an interception for a touchdown against the Los Angeles Chargers in the third quarter during the AFC Wild Card Playoffs at NRG Stadium on January 11, 2025 in Houston, Texas.

The Houston Texans secured a commanding 32-12 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round of the 2025 NFL Playoffs. As we look ahead, we analyze what’s next for the Texans in the upcoming Divisional Round.

In their playoff opener, the Houston Texans demonstrated their dominance as they overcame an initial 6-0 lead by the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers started strong with two field goals, but the Texans reversed the momentum in the second quarter. A pivotal pick-six, along with two additional interceptions and a defensive two-point conversion, propelled Houston to an impressive win.

Since this was the opening game of the playoffs, the fourth-seeded Texans eagerly await their next opponent in the Divisional Round. Should the favorites win this weekend, the Texans will face the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs. However, if at least one upset occurs in the remaining first-round matchups, the Texans may avoid meeting the Chiefs next week.

The No. Buffalo Bills are set to host the No. 7 Denver Broncos, while the No. 3 Baltimore Ravens will take on the No. 6 Pittsburgh Steelers. Should the Bills win and the Ravens lose, the Texans would meet the Bills. Conversely, if the Bills lose and the Ravens triumph, the Texans would face the Ravens. If both teams lose, the Texans’ next opponent would be the Steelers.
