The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has made a startling prediction regarding the health of Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggesting that he may die soon due to his deteriorating condition.

Zelenskyy voiced this sensational prediction during an interview on Wednesday. He urged the United States not to reintegrate Russia into the global political community amid ongoing peace negotiations intended to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

“He will die soon; that is a fact, and everything will be over,” Zelenskyy stated to Eurovision News in Paris, as reported by the Kyiv Independent.

According to Zelenskyy, Putin aims to “remain in power until his death” and is looking for “a direct confrontation with the West,” as noted by the outlet.

Zelenskyy did not elaborate on the specifics of why he believes the 72-year-old Russian leader might be nearing the end of his life.

In recent years, speculation about Putin’s health has intensified, particularly since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin has consistently denied such rumors, dismissing reports of Putin’s declining health without substantial evidence.

In October, Putin appeared to show intravenous (IV) track marks on his hands while interacting with soldiers, which ignited rumors suggesting he may be undergoing cancer treatment. The exact origin of these marks remains unclear.

There have also been ongoing rumors regarding Putin potentially suffering strokes or Parkinson’s disease.

Zelenskyy’s remarks come at a time when delegations from Russia and Ukraine agreed on Tuesday to a ceasefire concerning energy infrastructure attacks and hostilities in the Black Sea, following discussions with officials from the Trump administration in Saudi Arabia.

The Kremlin has stated that a ceasefire in the Black Sea can only take effect with the lifting of Western sanctions on Russia’s Rosselkhozbank, which serves agricultural firms, and the restoration of access to the international banking system, according to a report by Reuters.

During the interview, Zelenskyy implored the U.S. not to yield to the Kremlin’s demands amid ongoing peace talks. The U.S. has agreed to enhance Russia’s access to global markets.

“It is vital that America does not assist Putin in escaping this global isolation now,” Zelenskyy stated. “I believe that this is dangerous. This is one of the most perilous moments.”

On Thursday, Zelenskyy met with French President Emmanuel Macron ahead of a summit in Paris involving approximately 30 nations to discuss strategies for strengthening Kyiv’s position and military as it seeks a ceasefire with Russia. Proposals to deploy European troops in conjunction with any peace agreement are also under consideration.

Putin has been serving as the president of Russia since 2012, having previously held the role from 2000 to 2008. The former KGB foreign intelligence officer also served as the prime minister of Russia from 1999 to 2000 and again from 2008 to 2012.
